Farm Story

Nestled in a bend of the Kentucky River, this hilly river farm has been in John’s family going back to 1850.  We moved with our family to take over management of Thistle’s End Farm in 1999, devoting ourselves to maintaining its economic viability and environmental sustainability and to making the transition away from tobacco production, previously its mainstay.  Initially working off-farm jobs, since 2015 we have been full-time on the farm.  We have expanded farm enterprises into organic vegetable production and pasture-raised lamb and pork for local markets.
